Elizabeth’s Books, in the heart of the Town of Lunenburg’s bookselling district, boasts a rental library of more than five thousand DVDs. The shop usually opens around 6 p.m. each evening, never closing earlier than 10 p.m. Each month, proprietor Chris Webb recommends films for your consideration.
“June is Robin Williams Month,” says Chris. “I’ve been a fan ever since he was on Mork and Mindy.”
Anyone in the world of cinema is only ever up to two degrees from Lunenburg. Robin Williams made a cameo in the nautical cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants’ 10th anniversary special episode in 2006 – two years after the release of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), which opens with a shot of pirates on the ship Bounty, built in Lunenburg in 1960. Unfortunately, the ship was lost to Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Elizabeth’s Books has most films the late, beloved comedian starred in, including these top picks by Chris.
Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
Dead Poets Society (1989)
The Fisher King (1991)
