Howdy, Neighbour! Meet Duncan Kroll

Anyone who attends Lunenburg’s Town Council meetings will inevitably run into Duncan Kroll. Duncan has loyally attended most of the town’s public meetings since he moved to Lunenburg eight years ago.

“I’ve always been a political animal,” he says.

Duncan was the only member of the public, other than a Barnacle editor, to attend the town’s latest audit committee meeting.

Born and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan, Duncan says that he’s always felt a duty to be involved in his community.

Though the prairies don’t seem to have much in common with a small coastal town at face value, Duncan claims that the two places are quite similar. He draws comparisons between fisherfolk and prairie farmers. “The people of Nova Scotia are resourceful and resilient,” he says.

Aside from attending most Town Council meetings to support local politicians and provide constructive feedback, Duncan spends time volunteering for local organizations. He proudly claims that Lunenburg’s food bank is one of the best on the South Shore. He also volunteers for Souls Harbor in Bridgewater and he’s a self-proclaimed “worker bee” with the Food Forest at Bluenose Academy. His special area of interest is making healthy soil.

If you’re looking to chat and share ideas with this wonderfully engaged Lunenburg citizen, you need only attend Town Council’s next public meeting!
