South Shore Multicultural Association Hosts Iftar Party

Ramadan is a special time of the year when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. It is the ninth month in Islamic Lunar Calendar and lasts for 29 to 30 days depending on the moon sighting. At this time of the year, Muslims get together for Iftar time and pray together specially in the night which is called Taraweeh. Ramadan is not only about fasting, it’s about feeling the pain of those who are suffering from hunger and other problems. Ramadan is a time when Muslims give Charity called Sadaqa and Zakat more than any other time if the year. Ramadan is a time to purify one’s body, heart, soul and be God conscious in every action during the holy month. After Ramadan Muslims around the world celebrate Eid.
