Local Business with Heart and Soul Hosts Successful Charity Fundraiser

When local business, Lunenburg Community Consignment (LCC), let the community know about their May fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer and Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, the support was overwhelming.

“We measured success in several ways,” said Jamie Gray, LCC’s owner, “many families connected with Ovarian Cancer and the Fishermen’s Hospital donated items for sale in the store. They were touched that we focused on charities important to them.”

“So many people stepped up to help: volunteers in the store, the people who donated goods and all those who bought the items,” said Gray. “And the arts community contributed as well.  Local Folk Artist, Dale Brown of Bridgewater, donated one of his handmade Whirligigs for a Silent Auction. It proved to be a highlight of the fundraiser. This was truly a community effort.”

Maddy Graves, Ovarian Cancer Canada, Coordinator Community Engagement and Events said, “We, at Ovarian Cancer Canada, are appreciative of the fundraiser hosted by the LCC in May. We could not be more grateful for their efforts.”

Even though May is over, their fundraising isn’t finished yet. LCC continues to accept donated items for the featured charities along with the many others in the community.

Long time LCC volunteer, Jan Stanford said: “The LCC is a great way to contribute to the community and local charities.”

LCC is always accepting items, selling them and generating funds for charities. Thanks to a very busy fundraiser in May, it’s already shaping up to be a great summer for many charities.

LCC was launched by the Col. Cheryl Lamerson in 2012, with a goal of raising money for local charities, giving meaningful work to volunteers, while helping people declutter their homes and generating a little income for the sellers.

Over the past 12 years, LCC has donated over $235,000 to more than 85 local charities and art groups.
