Crunchy Mom: Make 2025 the Year of Goals with Soul

For the last 10 years, every January 1, I have had a very set ritual. Ideally there’s a fire; there is always tea and with a pen and paper, I write out how I want to feel in the year ahead… in three words or less. 

I have never been great at staying with a plan (or organized in general) but when I stumbled upon Danielle LaPorte’s Desire Map in 2014, I had finally found a system that worked for my brain. 

The premise? Narrow down how you want to feel and reverse engineer your goals or to-dos to get you to those feeling states. 

For instance, in 2025 the feelings I’m most focused on are peace, green and natural magic. 

To find more peace, I have better systems to help me stay organized (putting my keys in the same spot everyday… why has no one told me about this!?) and a new habit of a 10-minute tidy before bed. 

To feel like I’m living more green, I will compost, only buy used clothing, and have two “no drive” days a week. (This list is longer but I will spare you.) 

My definition of natural feels like being outside as much as possible, living and eating seasonally and planting my first garden. 


So let me ask you…how do you want to feel in 2025?
