Mi’kmaq Plant and Tree Medicines

This presentation is an introduction to Mi’kmaq plant and tree medicines. It will focus on herbs, woody plants, tree barks and leaves, their traditional preparation and uses. The discussion will be accompanied by slides and/or plant samples. Laurie Lacey is a traditional medicine maker, and a Nova Scotia representative on the Canadian Council of Herbal Elders, CCHL. He is the author of Mi’kmaq Medicines: Remedies and Recollections, and Medicine Walk: Reconnecting to Mother Earth, among other publications.
