Volume 2, Issue 7 is here!

The Lunenburg Barnacle’s second summer has come and gone. Our team took a break in July to rest our writing hands and enjoy the sunshine. We’ve come back refreshed and ready to report on all the exciting happenings in Lunenburg County.

As you may have heard, our editor-in-chief and co-founder, Jesse Ward, has stepped down from his role to run for mayor in Lunenburg. We wish him the best of luck! Though Jesse will no longer have an editorial or reporting role, he will continue to contribute Chris’ Picks, a monthly featurette in which Chris Webb of Elizabeth’s Books recommends DVDs from his rental library.

This has been an exciting time for local businesses. Good Dog Books in Bridgewater has upped Lunenburg County’s bookstore count to five (let’s take it even higher, people!) Dear Emma, a new business located in the former Bayport Pub, is serving up authentic Italian pizza paired with local wines. Rosefinch Mercantile in Port Medway, by no means a new kid on the block, has a new collaboration with Galeforce Feasts. The Old Confidence Lodge in Riverport has officially opened its doors and has summoned local talent to audition for its fall performance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Forged in Fable is putting on an original folk-opera, A Song for Hephaestus, at the Chester Playhouse (go get your tickets if you haven’t already!) Fellow Barnacle editor Carmen Cumming and I even managed to establish a Lunenburg County Community Orchestra with conductor Haig Beylerian during the busy days of summer (more to come on that).

If you’re as happy to see as back as we are to be back, consider supporting us. Follow us on Instagram, support us through a monthly donation, or simply send us an email saying hi. We’re also looking for contributors, as always. If you have a story idea or a short writing piece that needs a home, drop us a line! Thanks for reading, folks.
