The Old Confidence Lodge is officially open for business. Shari Porter and Dr. Chris Jackman have been renovating the former Oddfellows Hall in Riverport while living in the top-floor apartment. The venue consists of a 149-occupancy assembly hall and balcony seating. Extensive renovations included fireproofing, adding new washrooms, and creating an accessible entrance.
The couple founded Old Confidence Creative Arts: year-round music lessons and classes for all ages. Their family has performed with Chester Drama Society, Forged in Fable Theatre, the Lunenburg County Music Festival, and Seaside A Cappella. Dr. Jackman also has directed plays for the Lunenburg Theatre Collective.
A Grand Opening Gala will be held on August 23. The Gala hails the return of Old Confidence Lodge dances. Guests will be treated to a VIP cocktail hour, a red carpet entrance, hors d’oeuvres, and a live band and DJ. The music theme of the night is “dancing through the decades”; guests will dance to tunes from the 1920s all the way to the 2000s.
Old Confidence Lodge is available to rent for recording music as well as events. This venue will also be hosting a live music concert series this fall, as well as a production of The Rocky Horror Show.
