South Shore pie-lovers will be delighted to hear Jennah Barry is opening the business of their dreams.
Famous Town Pie Shop is opening April 1 at 16 Orchard Street in Mahone Bay, the site of the former Biscuit Eater.
The creative mind behind this delicious new local hang-out, Barry says the pie shop will sell savoury hand-pies, sweet pies and cakes, and coffee beverages.
Barry, who grew up nearby in Clearland, has been baking since she was very young. She’s worked in multiple bakeries on the South Shore.
Barry and her partner, Colin Nealis, are also both accomplished musicians.
Nealis is a touring musician, but Barry says he’ll help out with her business when he isn’t on tour.
Jennah explains she got the idea for the business name from her grandfather, Edgar Himmelmann.
Himmelmann ran Famous Town Ladies Shop in Lunenburg for many years.
Jennah was inspired by the name when designing her own business.
“[It’s] slapping a note of glamour on it,” she says.

Jennah’s cozy shop is situated on the left side of the building.
On the right side of the building, shoppers can purchase all-natural, Canadian-made products at SPRIG Apothecary, a local business run by Dea Sagnella.
On the top floor is an AirBNB quaintly titled “The Library.”
Asked what she predicts the bestseller on the menu will be, Barry confidently responds: “The cheeseburger pie!”
She also hints there may be a breakfast-themed hand-pie involving potatoes.
Hungry travelers and locals alike can look forward to sampling these scrumptious treats at Famous Town Pies this spring.
