DESCRIPTION:Join us for Pathways to Energy Efficiency\, a storytelling and social event. The social will be a great opportunity to hear short presentations from community members about energy efficiency and energy insecurity initiatives in our region. There will also be time to meet folks and have conversations at the event. You’ll learn about energy initiatives in our Town and meet some folks who are working on them. The speakers and topics will include: – Pathways to Getting off Oil – Josie Rudderham\, Town of Bridgewater – Coordinated Access: Energy Insecurity & Homelessness Prevention – Kristi Tibbo\, South Shore Open Doors Association – Home Sharing as Affordable Housing – Chris Andrews – Track at Home: Energy Efficiency Hub – Asad Hussain\, Town of Bridgewater – Benefits of Going Solar – JP Bissonnette – Learning About Energy Insecurity in Bridgewater – Laurianne Debanné\, McGill University – Greening the Power Grid – Jessica Scott\, Province of Nova Scotia – Ocean Pearl: My Passive House Project – Martha Myers – Energy Impacts on Health – Sarah Murphy Due to the venue rules\, the event is 19+. Folks are welcome to bring food into the venue. Drinks (alcohol-based and non-alcohol) will be available for purchase at FirkinStein. Come out for a fun evening to meet others who are working on reducing home energy costs. This event is free to attend. Accessibility Notes: There are no steps to enter the venue. There is a wheelchair accessible gender-neutral washroom. There are also gendered washrooms on site. Energize Bridgewater: Energize Bridgewater is a project of the Town of Bridgewater. Our goal is to reduce energy insecurity in our Town by helping residents reduce their home energy costs.

DESCRIPTION:WELCOME SIGN UNVEILING AND MA’KIT’S DOLL STORYTELLING \n\n\n\nWe’ll be unveiling brand new SSPL welcome signage created by local Mi’kmaw artist Jessica Jerome after which we’ll be joined by Rowan Currie who will lead us in learning about Mi’kmaw Elder\, Ma’kit Poulette and her experience at Shubenacadie Residential School making rag dolls. There will be a viewing of the short film Ma’kit’s Doll\, then we’ll create our own rag dolls. Short film synopsis: “When she arrived at age four her doll was taken away from her so she created dolls from her cleaning rags. As an adult Ma’kit searched for a doll that reminded her of the doll that was stolen from her.
