DESCRIPTION:Musique Royale is honoured to welcome the Canadian Chamber Choir back to Lunenburg for “Where Waters Meet” a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Canadian Chamber Choir. Canada’s only professional choir with national representation\, the Canadian Chamber Choir has ties originating in Nova Scotia\, with the core singers having met as members of the National Youth Choir of Canada at a performance in Wolfville. The choir will be joined by Cree-Dene composer/singer/drummer Sherryl Sewepagaham for this performance\, and we will hear some of their favourites from over the years and will be joined by special guests and some alumni joining in. Join Musique Royale on Saturday August 9 at 7 pm\, at historic St John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg for this choral celebration! \nTickets: $30 at the door\, $25 advanced rate\, youth free (ages 18 and under).

Individually\, they are established traditional musicians\, having taught and performed at camps and festivals across the country\, studied with many renowned musicians\, and recorded acclaimed solo albums. Since first meeting in 2020\, they have collaborated frequently – as concert artists\, market buskers\, pub bandmates\, event organizers\, educators\, and as part of the local community of traditional music. The Pear Tree is their first recording project together and they are delighted to have the chance to share this music with audiences across the province.

SUMMARY:Songs for a Winter's Night
DESCRIPTION:The Acadia University Singers present “Songs for a Winter’s Night” – a concert of seasonal music that explores different perspectives on winter.  As part of the program\, the Singers and special guest cellist Connor Cornick will perform Sarah Quartel’s “Snow Angel\,” a 5-movement cycle for choir\, piano\, and cello that uses the metaphor of winter angels to celebrate the “beauty\, and the strength that a child’s voice can bring to our troubled world” (Quartel).  Other selections include music by Andrew Balfour\, Jennifer Lucy Cook\, Ola Gjeilo\, Katerina Gimon\, Marie Claire Saindon\, and Robbie Smith\, plus a beautiful choral arrangement of Gordon Lightfoot’s classic\, “Song for a Winter’s Night”.   With a mix of new music and seasonal favourites\, this is a program of music that will warm your heart – even if it is cold outside!\n\nDirected by Dr. Michelle Boyd\, the Acadia University Singers are a treble-voice chamber choir\, comprised of both current students and alumni.  Joining them in performance are pianist Cian McCarron as well as several guest musicians from the School of Music.\n\nThis concert begins at 7:30pm in Denton Hall Auditorium.  Admission is by freewill donation at the door.
