SUMMARY:(A 90s Spin on) A Midsummer Night's Dream
DESCRIPTION:“Forest Heights Community School presents Shakespeare’s comedy about how foolish love can be. \n\n\n\nInstead of taking place in Ancient Greece like the original play\, our story takes place in 1996 in Maine. A group of teenagers ends up lost in the woods one night. Hermia and Lysander are trying to get away from Hermia’s overbearing father. Helena is chasing after Demetrius\, who dumped her over a voicemail and only has eyes for Hermia. A dysfunctional teen rock band is enjoying a band-bonding camping trip that goes terribly wrong. Out in the forest\, where the veil between reality and the dream world is thin\, creatures from the fairy realm take an interest in this silly human drama and begin to interfere for their own entertainment.”

SUMMARY:Planting companion layers in a food forest
DESCRIPTION:“Learn how to plant shrub\, perennial and low layers in a food forest in this FREE hands-on Learn & Work Party. Physical challenge level: medium-high More details and free registration (required) at \n\n\n\nEventbrite:https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/868460006257?aff=oddtdtcreator \n\n\n\nFood forests have been used to grow food by many indigenous cultures around the world for hundreds of years or more\, and are still used today. A food forest is designed to resemble a forest ecosystem in which different types of perennials (trees\, shrubs\, herbs\, and flowers) are planted together to perform different functions such as help fertilize the soil\, attract pollinators\, offer shade\, repel pests\, etc. In a food forest\, most of the plants are perennial and many are native to the region. Explore our young food forest at Bluenose Academy\, and help us add more plants in 2024! We will guide you to plant a few more trees and lots of shrubs and perennials in diverse layers and guilds\, rather than rows. This is a hands-on Learn & Work Party\, in which you will learn-by-doing\, working with fellow community members to raise our young little food forest! Activities will include digging\, shovelling\, wheelbarrowing\, spreading and moving organic material. Activities are suited to strong healthy adults\, teens and older children; younger children can also participate in planting smaller plants.”

DESCRIPTION:“FREE workshop: Learn about the Butterflyway Project\, native pollinator habitats\, and get help starting your own. Free seeds! Physical challenge level: easy More details and free registration (required) at \n\n\n\nEventbrite:https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/868479153527?aff=oddtdtcreator \n\n\n\nThe Butterflyway Project is a citizen-led movement growing highways of habitat for bees and butterflies across Canada. The Butterflyway Project helps people create viable pollinator habitat in neighbourhoods across Canada. Local Butterflyway Ranger Charlene MacDonald will share her knowledge about the program and tips on how you can get started creating your own pollinator habitat here on the South Shore. In 2021\, Charlene teamed up with her granddaughter to distribute dozens of native plants and seed kits\, resulting in over 60 plantings as part of the Lunenburg County Butterflyway. Charlene is a generous mentor\, native seed collector and sharer. Free Swamp Milkweed seed packets available to all participants! Door prize: win an official Butterflyway Project Plant Pack (a garden plant pack of 5 species\, a Butterflyway sign\, some simple instructions/information and option to be added to the official DSF Butterflyway Project Map in 2024.”
