SUMMARY:Chester Playhouse presents Dancing the Seven Teachings
DESCRIPTION:Dancing the Seven Teachings is a program rooted in the desire to create new dance works imbued with ancient knowledge. A family-friendly program of two pieces\, each brings a different story through the art of Indigenous hoop dancing\, ballet\, and contemporary dance. \n\n\n\nThe two works are Bears Stars and Trees and Trickster’s Romeo and Juliet. \n\n\n\nBears Stars and Trees:When nature is injured\, the wisdom of the seven teachings brings hope for the future. This work is the result of a collaboration between contemporary and Indigenous artists\, a meeting ground with Ballet and traditional Indigenous hoop dance. \n\n\n\nBears Stars and Trees is a unique work that started in 2016\, guided by Elder Shirely Horn\, and created with a team of Indigenous and Western-tradition artists.

SUMMARY:Chester Playhouse presents Bluebirds
DESCRIPTION:Please note: There is also a performance on October 20th at 2pm. A smash hit production by Theatre New Brunswick\, Bluebirds tells the story of three young women serving as nurses during the first world war. \n\n\n\nSet in Étaples\, France\, 1918\, nurses Christy\, Maggie\, and Bab have crossed oceans to care for wounded Canadian soldiers in the Great War. Despite the terrible injuries they must deal with\, they manage to stay hopeful as the dangers of the front draw closer to their hospital. Through it all\, the three women find friendship\, independence\, power\, and influence in a place where men\, once again\, are trying to destroy the world. \n\n\n\nA moving and uplifting story by Governor General award winning playwright Vern Theissen\, Bluebirds draws us into the untold true stories of those who served during the most difficult of times. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a talkback with the performers after the Oct 19th performance.
