The women who support the South Shore Regional Hospital celebrated a successful come-back after a series of closures due to Covid. Because of the pandemic, the Hospital Auxiliary suspended most of its activities, including fundraising.
After a two-year hiatus, it was once again able to hold its annual luncheon. Volunteers with the Shoreline Gallery, the Hospital Gift Shop and The Daisy second-hand shop gathered at the Anglican Church Hall in Bridgewater on Monday, November 13. They enjoyed prizes, good food and chatting with old friends. They also celebrated the contribution of a special volunteer.
Eula Hirtle has been helping out at The Daisy since it started as the Spring Fling over 40 years ago. Now in her nineties, Eula continues to drive in from West Dublin each Monday to help set up The Daisy for the coming week.
More than her hard work, Eula is loved for her keen sense of humour. To acknowledge her contribution, the Auxiliary presented Eula with a basket of flowers and a certificate of service. There was a standing ovation for Eula as Auxiliary members looked back on years of community involvement.
She’s a treasure.
